In summary, in our area,:
Cobourg and Port Hope have the largest collections and the only Local History and Genealogy Rooms among Public Libraries in Northumberland. A consolidated list of their holdings is on the page Genealogy & Local History - Northumberland Libraries.
Quinte West Public Library in Trenton has an excellent Genealogy Centre and is convenient to residents of east Northumberland.
All Northumberland Libraries support Inter-Library Loans from across Ontario and farther afield.

the Ancestry Library Edition is likewise available in main branches.
