April 8, 2021 - Dan Buchanan and The Tobey Book
The Tobey Book" contains 786 pages outlining the most important collection of historical information of the Brighton community. Dan will tell you how this valuable document was created and, using examples from the book, will explore the nature of the content. He will also explain a significant genealogy problem that was solved using references found in the book. With a PDF version of this book now available, researching this massive collection is made possible. Join us and learn something fascinating about Northumberland County history.
May 13, 2021 – 10 Minute Talks –
Three Lakeshore Genealogy Members will share an interest from their research. Marcia McLeod – a Scottish theme; Jane Clarke – My Irishes and Barb Harmer will tell us about her connection to Colborne and Lakeport.
June 10, 2021- Northumberland County Archives & Museum - Building for Community.
Staff from Northumberland County Archives and Museum will take the opportunity to update the LGS on progress for the new NCAM build and the exciting exhibition development process they are embarking on with help from community stakeholders.
September 9, 2021 - Linda Corupe - The Irish Immigrant’s Tale -
This is the story of a family that emigrated from Ireland in 1834 to Cobourg. Their ocean voyage is described, and it then involves a family death at the immigration and quarantine station at Grosse Isle. The diary continues up to around 1837, with their experiences in their new home. This true story is taken from an unpublished diary.
